many had not heard of as the race went into the un-known.

Johnnie Walker (SouthAustralia.com/AIS) leads Richie Porte (Praties) and
Bernard Sulzberger (Virgin Blue Cycling) in the breakaway trio that formed on the circuit back in Stanley.

The peloton were closing the gap in the final ten kilometres
reducing it to forty-seconds as the leaders fought on in the windy conditions.

takes out stage five after the peloton caught the leaders with two kilometres to go.
